The month of March marked the beginning of a grand celebration for the 110th anniversary of the Portuguese Football Federation!

The festivities commenced in the historic city of Guimarães, in the North of Portugal, and will continue throughout the month of April, with a series of thrilling events extending from the football pitches to forums and conferences.

The inaugural event took place during the Portugal-Sweden match, a precursor to the 2024 UEFA Euro Championship.

Football enthusiasts, players, local populations, families, and people worldwide are invited to participate in this grand celebration.

The anniversary will be punctuated with activities, matches and the final stages of prestigious competitions such as the BPI League, League 3, the semi-finals of the Women's Portuguese Cup, and the final eight of the Futsal Placard Portuguese Cup.

The kick-off on March 31st also marked the launch of the Accessibility Guide, a pioneering initiative aimed at making football more inclusive for fans with specific needs.

As part of the "Game On" project, supported by UEFA's HatTrick programme, the Accessibility Guide aims to transform the matchday experience for disabled, deaf, and neurodivergent fans.

The first phase of this project took place at the D. Afonso Henriques Stadium during the Portugal-Sweden match, with dedicated areas for disabled spectators, audio-descriptive commentary for visually impaired fans, specialized service desks, parking facilities, and dedicated support from volunteers and staff.

In an innovative move, the use of sensitive waistcoats for deaf fans transmitted the pulse of the football match through vibrations.

Join us in celebrating 110 years of passion, dedication, and love for football. Let's make this anniversary a global festival of unity, diversity, and the beautiful game!
