Morocco has done it again! The Moroccan Futsal National Team has won the 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) for an impressive third consecutive time, after beating Angola 5-1 in the final on Sunday, April 21st.
The tournament was held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco. Throughout the tournament, the Moroccan team led by coach Hicham Dguig showed exceptional performance, winning all three group stage matches before defeating Libya in the semi-finals and Angola in the final.
This victory marks the third AFCON title for Morocco, following their victories in 2016 and 2020. His Majesty King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to the team members for their outstanding achievement. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation organized a reception in honor of the team's success.
Morocco delivers once more
As the host nation of the 2024 Futsal AFCON, Morocco delivered an exceptional tournament, providing an impeccable player and fan experience in state-of-the-art venues.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino attended the tournament’s finale in Rabat and expressed his excitement at the prospect of Morocco hosting more major international competitions in the future. Morocco is set to host the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup™ annually from 2025 to 2029, with the 2025 AFCON also due to take place in the kingdom.
