Morocco played host to a groundbreaking event in July, with the Youth Sustainable Development Conference (YSDC) 2024 serving as a powerful platform for young leaders to advocate for a sustainable future across Africa. With the theme "Building The Future: Spotlighting Youth-Led Solutions for Global Sustainability", the conference, held in Rabat, placed a special emphasis on the role of sustainable sports, particularly in light of the bid of Morocco, Portugal and Spain for the FIFA World Cup 2030™️.

The YSDC 2024 brought together climate experts, youth leaders and sports organizations, including the YallaVamos 2030 bid committee. With sustainability being a key legacy pillar of the bid, it proved an excellent forum to gather insights from young leaders across Africa on how to optimize the potential of the FIFA World Cup 2030™ in promoting climate action and the clean energy transition.

During the sessions, speakers discussed the importance of fostering strong partnerships between the sports industry and environmental organizations to share knowledge, amplify efforts, and promote sustainable practices throughout the tournament and beyond.

By bringing together young minds passionate about sports and the environment, the conference facilitated a crucial dialogue on how to leverage the global stage of the FIFA World Cup 2030™️ to inspire change and create a more sustainable future for football and the planet.

We thank all participants for their great input and look forward to continuing to develop a truly sustainable bid for the FIFA World Cup 2030™.
