The joint bid of Morocco, Portugal, and Spain to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup™ has reached a significant milestone, with its YallaVamos 2030 bid book being formally submitted to FIFA.
The bid book was handed over to FIFA President Gianni Infantino at FIFA’s Paris office by representatives from all three bidding Federations: Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fernando Gomes, President of the Portuguese Football Federation, and Álvaro de Miguel, General Secretary of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, on behalf of President Pedro Rocha.
The bid book comprehensively details the bid vision and technical planning, including transport, accommodation and security arrangements, and also outlines the proposed host cities and stadiums for a 2030 FIFA World Cup™ in the three countries.
Its handover to FIFA followed a thrilling six-day road trip across the three bidding countries. The bid book journey began at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in Rabat, passed through multiple cities, historic landmarks and stunning sights on the way to the Portuguese Football Federation in Lisbon, and concluded at the Royal Spanish Football Federation in Madrid. Along the way, the bid book was welcomed by members of the bid leadership team, and many of the bid ambassadors, including Nourredine Naybet, Ghizlane Chebbak, and Luís Figo. The road trip was promoted through the bid’s social media channels and gathered more than 271’000 impressions and over 10’000 interactions over the six-day period.
Upon receiving the official bid book for the joint bid of Morocco, Portugal, and Spain, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: “Your three countries have already given a lot to football, countries with great passion for the game, great organisational skills and a shared vision of what football and its values should be! It’s fantastic that you united two continents in the dream to organize the FIFA World Cup! Football Unites the World and you are proving it with this bid.”
A successful YallaVamos bid would mark the first time the men’s FIFA World Cup™ is held across two continents in its 100-year history. The final decision for the host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup™ is due to be made by a vote of the FIFA Congress on the 11th of December 2024.
